Coffee-Ground Scrub To Help Cellulite
Hello again,
This time I want to share my experience on using scrubs to reduce cellulite.
I use a scrub every or every second night, when I take a shower. I have tried many scrubs and they usually affect cellulite pretty much the same. The difference between all of them, in my opinion, is consistence, scent, package and others - not really the main purpose.
.
After researching so many scrubs, now I use 2 of them:
- Institut DERMed Body CelluliteRx LipoSmooth Body Polish - works great, smells great, a good scrub to have. This is quiet expensive, though, but really works while travelling and when there is no wish to mess up
- Coffee Ground Scrub - works great!! Is cheap! The only negative side I really do not like is the smell. I did not feel bad about it for a few first times, but later it started to really annoy me. I usually use this at home, try to make it every evening, unless I am really lazy that day - CelluliteRx LipoSmooth Body Polish comes to help me then.
.
The results after using any one of these scrubs for 2 weeks are pretty much the same - I mean the cellulite side.
Scrub works like a massage - stimulates the blood flow to problem areas while making the skin firmer. This strongly affects cellulite. I got used to scrub my problem areas every night and forgot about it - and in maybe two weeks I saw a difference - my cellulite was less seen and the skin was much firmer.
.
How to make coffee ground scrub:
If you drink coffee in the morning (you better choose green tea ;)), or anybody in your family does, do not throw away the coffee grounds when finished. Collect them in a cup until the evening shower.
When preparing for the shower, take your coffee ground cup and put some olive oil in it, then mix (I usually put some shower gel for a better smell, since I do not find the coffee scrub smell very attractive - try this also). There has to be just a little bit of oil and shower gel - not more than a teaspoon in total! You will see how soft it gets when you start mixing - I love this process :).
If mixed with shower gel, I sometimes do not wash the body again just use the scrub as my shower gel.
.
How to use it:
When prepared, take your coffee ground mix bit by bit and rub it into the body, especially on the most cellulite affected areas. For the first time, you might feel your palms hurting - this is because you use them to scrub the whole body - and since the coffee ground bits of the scrub are a little bit bigger that the ones of the usual scrub, this might be not the best feeling for the first time :).
Well, you can use gloves for the next time, if necessary. When rubbed everywhere, wash the scrub off. You will feel you smoother skin right after the first time!
Do not forget to use oil or firming lotion after the shower - this is necessary for skin hydration. My loved ones are Clarins Energizing Hydra-Wear Express Body Lotion and Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil. But use any softening lotion that you like - it is important not to forget this part.
If you are looking for a scrub to buy, check out the StrawberryNET.com online store - I usually buy my creams, lotions and cosmetics there because they got pretty good prices and other advantages (read the review about StrawberryNET.com here)
.
Try this coffee ground scrub and keep us informed how you are doing - your comments are very welcome!
.
Good luck,
Kate

Very interesting, I’ve been collecting coffee grounds to keep cats out of my yard but never heard of using it for a body scrub, wow!

Some great advice there Kate.
I use a loofah mitt when I shower and it has always kept my skin in good condition.
I like the idea of making your own scrub. I assume the coffee has special properties that firms up your skin.

To Karen:
Oh yes, loofah mitt should also work fine - like a scrub and massage together

Any scientific proof? Why would anybody listen to this? Cellulite is fat, get on a treadmill and sprint off and on and it should reduce cellulite over time along with a healthy diet, coffee grinds are only a waste of time that you should be in the gym.

Dear Personal Trainer,
Thank you for a comment! I love the exercises on your website!
The best proof is when you work on something and really see the results - and that`s what a coffee ground scrub is all about.
There is no doubt that exercising helps reduce cellulite! But this is really not enough, though.
Cellulite is not about plain fat - it`s about fat AND TOXINS. Coffee ground scrub, like any other massage, helps eliminate toxins and make the connective tissues more pliable, as well as bringing blood flow to the skin, which makes it appear less dimpled.
Coffee-ground scrub is a cheap, make-it-yourself alternative to expensive products that we can buy in stores. Plus, caffeine is found as an ingredient in many scrubs. There would be no scrubs in the market if they would not work - right?

I own 6 spas and 4 holistic centers and this treatment truly does work. I’ve tweaked it for each of my locations but my customers can’t get enough. I have been a sufferer of obesity all of my life because of a thyroid problem and I went from 435lbs to 185 but no matter how hard I worked I couldn’t get rid of the dimpling until I found this. Is it a miracle cure? No, but it does help to reduce the effects of cellulite and boost one’s feeling of accomplishment.

I have never heard of this before, but I tried it for the first time last night and could not believe how soft my skin felt. I’m going to continue it for my few dimples that I have and inform you of the progress it’s making.
Thank you for sharing this information.

I’ve been working out 30 minutes to an hour 5 days a week for 20 years. Now that I am 43 I have a problem with cellulite. After giving up coffee for green tea, no longer smoking, at least anything good, and eating nothing but healthy food, it’s nice to know that I can use my husband’s coffee grounds for my benefit. I have spent much too much money on creams and such so thanks for the info.

This sounds absolutely great……one question…if getting used coffee grounds is a problem can new bagged ground coffee be bought and used directly in this scrub?
Many thanks

Dear Mel,
Good question
It has to be used coffee grounds - if you do not drink coffee, just prepare some for the scrub! I actually have never tried just bagged coffee-grounds, but I believe the brewed-up work much much better because this way the scrub gets not just an effect of a peeling, but also involves the advantages of the coffee.
Please let us know if you try it this way

Hi,
Well I’m still using the coffee ground scrub and I still love the way it makes my skin feel. And yes it does smooth out the cellulite. I’m in my 60’s and my skin looks great. I would say at least give it a try.
First of all, you don’t have to tell anyone, it’s YOUR secret, go ahead try it.
